It was years ago I heard Alice Cooper’s I’m Eighteen rendered for elevator, and thought my world had ended. That song rocked … or it did, until Mantovani covered it.

Imagine my surprise when “Crazy on You” became an oldie in 1992! Or when “Cars” was used as background noise for American Express!!!

I have to laugh whenever I hear a Van Halen song on an oldies station or any of those 80s hair bands.

She’s in her mid 50’s so it won’t be long before she is old enough to qualify for plugger status!.Never cared for her, and likely will never hear her on the stations we listen to; after all, we only tune to country these days. You know, Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, Miranda Lambert, Tim McGraw, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Josh Turner, and the beat goes on…

The radio industry doesn’t call the format “oldies” anymore, they call it “classic hits” and they play the songs that were hits when 40- and 50-somethings were in high school.

“Material Girl” was a hit in 1985, and listeners who are between the ages of 47 and 51 now were in high school then. So it fits the new definition.
