I’ve observed for a while that everyday products are declining in variety and quality. F’rinstance… our bedroom TV lost picture the other day. Itself a replacement, it was a 20" flat-screen Toshiba with OK sound. Went on line to find the same again at a reasonable price. Found 1. the brands we’ve always gone to don’t even MAKE anything under 30" anymore; 2. the Quasar we got has an OK picture but sound so bad it will require us to get auxiliary speakers to go with it; 3. the remote and functions are inferior to the Toshiba; and 4. there is no replacement at any price for what we had. Yes, the relentless push for profits benefits nobody but investors and CEOs.
