yep, Monday is 100 % chance of snow (approximately 8-12 inches) and snuggling with the felines, Tuesday will warm up and allow me to walk and talk with George the 3rd, Wednesday is the day to waste at the clinic and let them have most of my blood, Thursday is the day to get any final preps made for winter and let the plants soak up the drizzle that is expected, Friday is my day of rest, and yeppers, Friday is Chesney day, blowing and going, not especially mild, but not too bad, just bopping and shopping……….and then its Caturday! Yay!! Breakfast will be served to all of us, biscuits, sausage gravy, grated hash browns, bacon, ham and eggs. What more can any cat or their person ask for?lol
When a Siamese goes for the gold and misses, so help me it is funnier than all get out because they are so smart and coordinated that when something like the above happens, it just cracks me up!
Since I was given leeway prior to today, regarding Siamese (of which you all know I am a proud mother of nowadays) I beg your forbearance for a couple more of their antics. Gosh, all cats are da bomb’s, but the cattitude of a Siamese is just somehow the epitome of it all to me, but Mister Tuxexdo seems to be expanding my horizons. I was always a dog person, but boy hidey, has the last year changed my outlook! Anyway, heres a couple more, and if you wish I will restrain myself next Sunday/Siamese day.
The kitten – I am calling her Autumn for now, but she also looks like a Polly – has certainly grown on me and I will most likely end up keeping her. She is getting used to Freddog, not hissing at him as much! We will make a trip to the vet this week to check her reproductive status. I sure hope she is not pregnant.
To reply to Amethyst52, it’s not that I consider myself old but wonder where I will be in 20 years if this kitten has a nice long life like so many of my other cats have. Last year I lost Momma Kitty at 23, and have had several live into their late teens. My oldest cat now is about 18 or so, I have only had him for 3 years. And I am active, I am out walking or hiking everyday with Freddog and in the summer we backpack solo in the high sierra. I am waiting for winter so that I can do some reading without feeling guilty being inside!
Ruth, I’m going to say it first (at least here on 10 Cats): You are a very special lady and a good friend to Linda. I had a friend who was close to me as Linda was to you who died way too young of congestive heart failure on November 21, 1996. They found her 2 days later. Birthdays haven’t been the same since.
I enjoy seeing your posts each day and the pictures you post. My favourites are the pugs and the Siamese, although they all manage to tickle me.
Nothing special?! Oh, Ruth, bite your tongue! And I LOVE Siamese Sundays. My first cat after I left home was a Siamese and she saw me through many years of turmoil, my one constant in a changing world.Jesse, I totally understand where you’re coming from; I’m 60 and and my current cat is 19. Once she is no longer with me, i don’t plan to have another pet. The future is too uncertain. Of course, I say that now. We’ll see what I say when I’m living without a kitty for the first time ever!
Good news on the kitten front. FOUR got homes yesterday. The two Siamese went to a nice young family with little girls who will love them to pieces.
The black one and a tabby went to a mom and her 12 yr old son. Mom wanted the black one. The son wanted the other so they took both!
Getting back mama and just 2 kittens was a huge relief for me. It’s a walk in the park now.
Susan said the other babies will surely get homes next weekend.
In the meantime, I’m going to introduce mama to my cats. If all goes well, she can stay here while we are gone Thanksgiving week. I really do NOT want her going to the shelter.
People of ANY age should try to make arrangements for their pets ‘just in case’. It’s devastating to wonder what might happen to our beloved pets if we were suddenly out of the picture!
It doesn’t matter what the weather next week – I am commanded, absolutely no excuses accepted – to jury duty. Jessegooddoggy – sounds like you have passed the point of no return. Life’s uncertain – enjoy the moment….and the kitten. LadyKat – would love to hear the story of ’The Ghost in the Heating System". Wet & Soggy – great pictures. I love Siamese cats…..and Himalayans. Rikki Tavi – your pictures are always so cute!
DJM: I can’t tell you how many cats get dumped at the shelter because the relatives didn’t want Grammies cat. (or dog). I really do not like adopting kittens out to people over 65 or 70. I’m almost 64 and will not take on any more permanent cats because in all likelihood, they would outlive me. Yes, my husband is 10 yrs younger and loves our cats but maybe he won’t want the responsibility of a lot of cats when I’m gone. Fostering is the way to go for older people who can do it. Even fostering just one kitten or cat is such a great help to the shelters or people who do rescues.
Stupid spell check……sighted!!Also, for reasons we are not given our four footed furry loves are taken before they reach old age. Would not want to miss out on one day of the joy, happiness and love that we can have with our cats (and other furry family members).
me, Linda’s son will take Tinker and Belle and Mr. Tuxedo will go to Ramona’s daughter who is a total cat person should anything happen to Ramona. We checked on that before we left the cabin, because once you reach a certain age, you DO need to have a plan in place. Have a restful Sunday afternoon all.
Ppyfss: I’m not saying older people should not adopt a pet. I’m saying think about the older animals. They sit in shelters all over the country. Yes, kittens are adorable but adults need love and attention and homes, too. We have a beautiful white, declawed girl, about 2 yrs old, that would make an excellent companion for someone who might not want to deal with scratched furniture or must be careful about skin that is starting to get thinner. She is loving, sweet and gentle. A woman, 77, came to my house on Friday to see the kittens. She’s been thinking about this for TWO years. I tried to talk up the white kitty or any other adult but she’s set on a kitten in Jan. She lives alone and I worry about the speed with which a kitten can get under feet that might not be as steady as they once were or any number of other things.
I agree about adopting the older animals if you are adopting. But when one in need shows up on your doorstep you have to take what you get and do what you can. If no one else wants it then what ever time you have to love it is better than it would have had as as an abandoned stray.
@ to all here!Hello to all here at Ten Cats and thank you so much for your kind and welcome posts. I like to be family here. I really do not know if we have similar German comicwriters like they are here at GoComics. I enjoy this website with those variety of comicstrips although I do not understand all. But this doesn’t matter, pictures tell so much! And most of all I love so much my chosen comic strips you might see on my profile here. (I don’t know if this is really possible). To mention a few: the good old Garfield (long before I knew of other comics I had Garfield in books written in German – as a young woman when I was 29), Smith, Fred Basset, Pickles, Luann, Betty, Raising Duncan, Red and Rover….. But especially Ten Cats is my very special favorite. You do a great job Mr. Graham Harrop! Thank you!smile
…Two white cats…and two other white cats named Snowball and Mua (made famous by Stelbel on BS.A tabby named Stormy two ginger cats named Ginger and Cinnamon and a black cat who turned out to be rabid! Yikes! Not for long. We all had to have rabies shots. I was only one year old, and they put the needles in your stomach.I was looking through our album and saw this photo of my five year old sister and me holding that cat- well, she was holding it while I pet it. It must have died shortly afterwards, because at first my mom couldn’t remember having the cat at all…
Queen of America, your comment makes a lot of sense. We adopted an 11 year old cat and he lived to 22. Not many people want a cat that age so I think we saved his life.
Oliver and Woof got days dedicated to them!!!! Great stories and comments today gang.Marge, great to hear from you.I too know that if I ever adopt another cat or dog again it will be a senior. Still, if that needy kit or pup needed me I probably wouldn’t say no.
I myself don’t have a Siamese (or even a kitty as I had two I was very close to and they died way too early for me.) Now we have an Irish Setter. She is a big dog and likes to chase kitties way too much!). Anyway, my cousin had a Siamese who lived to be 21 or 22 years old. To say that she was devastated doesn’t fit the pain she suffered when she finally had to say good-bye to Han-Su (her Siamese’s name). I do love kitties myself, but am no longer up to cleaning litter boxes the way I’d like to. So, I enjoy all of the kitties (and bunnies) here on “Ten Cats!”
