We usually take ours down the day after, but we’re having all the neighbors over for drinks on Monday, so it will stay up a while longer. We put it up the day after Thanksgiving, because our big Christmas party was on the 6th.I wish all the decorations could stay up all year, they make the house look so pretty.

My Birthday is the 30th so it has to stay up until after the First of the New Year. My Aunt just moves it to another room it never comes down.

Mine comes down some time after New Year’s Day, when I have time to take it down – but never until after the New Year.

    Good morning, Crew!

If you cut the tree on the 25th, that might work, or use an artificial tree. But the “bad luck” with a natural tree would probably be it catching fire after drying out.

Christmas begins on the 24th. In the United States it seems so many people let the giant retail machine dictate their holiday season—beginning the day after Halloween (or earlier) and ending on Christmas Eve.

We have a holiday tree, so it goes up in time for the solstice and stays up for New Years.

I’ve lived on both side of the Atlantic. It always strikes me as strange that Christmas ends, and no argument, at midnight on the 25th in the US. Next day, trees out, TV back to normal, no mention of what has just passed.

In the UK people are just really getting started. Give me the long Christmas holiday versus the one day wonder any time!

We kept the tree up until my birthday on the sixth, but my Irish Mum made sure it came down promptly that night!

Christmas runs from Dec. 25-Jan 6. From Christmas Day to Epiphany. Hence where we get “The Twelve Days of Christmas” …

We usually put the tree the 12th of December, day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, where you would say Christmass seasons officially starts, then at the Epiphany the 6th of January, those who observe the holiday receive the gifts instead of in Cristhmas, or different kind of gifts, cloths instead of toys or viceversa, and we ate Rosca de Reyes or Kings´ Bread, and those who get a little boy figure in their bread, are supposed to invite the rest to a tamale feast at February the 2nd, day of La Candelaria, the day Jesus was presented in the Temple.

    Then we store the decorations.
