Ehh.. A little from column A.A little from column B. Looks like the lizard folk have wrapped things up neatly, Jim kills Holly and company, then wait till Jim starves to death. There will be quite a mess to clean up after though, and I don’t think they have gas masks that fit.
I didn’t know that about Rick Wakeman. I love Yes…saw them live on their “Tormato” tour (thankfully they didn’t play too many from that one). Donovan opened, which seemed a little incongruous at first but he brought the house down. One of the best concerts I’ve ever attended.
Oh, the comic strip. Should say something. This definitely does NOT look good, but I have faith in Wally’s ability to work through even the worst situations.
Jim is very dangerous indeed! Last summer when I was foolish enough to try being a cabbie (i was actually good at it) I had a regular run to take this older lady to dialysis at 5am. My back route to town sent me by the college, suddenly a Raccoon jumped in front of my cab, I hit it with a glancing shot of my left front bumper, I had hit the brakes too late. I looked to my left to see where he went only to be greeted by the sight of a mortally wounded fawn laying down in the opposite lane there was blood, but it’s head was still up, and another large coon was attacking it. I had no time to stop and check on the other one, plus things were shocking enough to say the least and I did not want to upset my fare any further than she already was. I asked a redneck buddy of mine if this was common for coons’ to be doing that. He goes "Hell yeah!, If they are hungry enough they’ll go for the easy roadkill snack!’I know Coons may eat a chicken if they have the need for it.What’s gonna happen?Only Aaron knows for sure and he ain’t tellin us til next week.
Some thoughts..Aaron has gone to great lengths to assure us that the lizards are not nice people. Nevertheless, do the Lizards really know that Chic is in there? I’m pretty sure they don’t know Holly is in there – but I’ve been wrong before..I’m pretty sure they know Jim is in there, and likely, that’s why the entrances are blocked..As former Topsiders, I suppose both Sarah and Jim were suspect. No question, Sarah has been showing her spots – perhaps this Schism Syndrome is to reveal that Jim was not so nice a fellow, either..A big problem seems to be that, other than Holly, Wally, and Chic, there seems to be a decided lack of good guys to follow in this story..And then, there’s the problems back in Endtown – which Holly and Wally are currently trying to escape..Strongly suggesting that, just because people have become “mutants,” that doesn’t mean they’re any better than the Topsiders all of these people are trying to escape!
Cheapskate,As a long time reader I’d note that one of Aaron’s themes is to not paint people as “good” or “evil” but as human with their various good and bad points. The Topsiders may seem like a subversion of that but they live in a culture that believes that the only way to eradicate the mutagen (which forces them to wear biosuits 24/7) is to kill ALL mutants. I see them as being like the people in Nazi Germany during WWII, any individual goodness that they may have is suppressed by their toxic culture. And I think there is some goodness there. Flask started her descent as a disaffected Topsider who freed a condemned man before she planned to take her own life. She fell in love, mutated and was captured, leading her to become the emotionally damaged woman we love and hate. Linda Kowalski started out as a Topsider who tried to take Wally’s and Holly’s brains, in Endtown she showed a compassionate side. The lizards seem to have their own toxic culture, though not quite as extreme. The individual mutants have their own problems. Wally never really adjusted to life in Endtown but only stayed there because he loved Holly. He is an engineer, but was so angry at the lizards that he refused a chance to escape with Holly because he wanted to kick Phil’s tail a second time in front of the whole colony. Holly has some dark secrets of her own, which at one point led her to try and jump off Endtown’s clock tower. The other peoples of Endtown have their various bad points including alcoholism, predjudice and ambition.

If all the exits are blocked off, maybe they can squeeze their way into Wally’s cell.

Now, WHY would the reptiles want Jim trapped in with Chic?Is this some kind of weird mutant dating game?

What reason does Chic have to stay in Lizardtown now?…Aside from the blocked entrances, that is…
