Actually it was Pres B. Obama that changed NASA’s mission priorities before T. Cruz was even elected.
NASA Administrator Charles Bolden (Head of NASA):
Bolden created a firestorm after telling Al Jazeera last month that President Obama told him before he took the job that he wanted him to do three things: inspire children to learn math and science, expand international relationships and “perhaps foremost, he wanted me to find a way to reach out to the Muslim world and engage much more with dominantly Muslim nations to help them feel good about their historic contribution to science … and math and engineering.”
Those who do not challenge conventional wisdom cannot claim to be “science literate.” Science is not a “vote on consensus” – that is mere dictatorship by the rabble. As with all political movements, one can learn the “why” by following the money: who is trying to compel an increase in the costs of living for the average citizen, and who will be getting those monies? That is how all scams work.

Mm… No! More along the lines of… I’ve been paying attention to people who’s career is in Science, mainly in the fields of fallowing the Weather patterns/changes. Hollywood-based Science, not so much!
Regarding Jon Stewart… Though not a Scientist, he pays attention and he pretty much enough gets it.

You mean “Astro-naught”, Jason. You have zero chances of ever being in zero-gravity.
