Old expressions should match your audience.

My old dog HATED car rides. They made him extremely nervous and agitated. This was true from the start, when he was a puppy, even before he began to associate them with trips to the vet, if he ever did. He couldn’t wait for it to be over so he could get out of the car and feel terra firma under his paws.

2 out of 3 of my dogs absolutely live for car rides. The 3rd will put up with one in order to get to the woods.

Our new dog is just okay with car rides once you get him in the car. He’s a rescued dog from Alabama and we live in northernmost Maine…..I think he’s had enough riding in cars to last him for a while.

PS- @Liverlips: Dramamine is great for dogs that get motion sickness/car anxiety like that. Also crating them helps immensely. I had one that would absolutely freak out, every single time, barf, drool, etc. Even without the Dramamine, if she could ride in the crate, she was much better.

Crating definitely works for cats….It would drive me even crazier, but cats prefer the smaller area I guess…..

My wonderful doggie loved car rides, and I could drive him into a frenzy beforehand by jingling my keys.

A friend’s cat (one of her 3 girls), would howl during the entire drive to the vet. Be quiet on the trip back and not talk to her for a week.

You think that’s nerve-wracking, try driving with an owl in the car!
