Rose is Rose by Don Wimmer and Pat Brady for December 16, 2014
Transcript:
Rose: The Parkers' invitation says "Ornament Party." It doesn't say anything about wearing a costume. Jimbo: Two years ago they had an ugly sweater party...last year we all went as elves... If we don't show up in costumes...we'll be the laughingstock of the party! Rose: So I'm dressing as an ornament to avoid embarrassment?

It’s not embarrassing if you do it right. You show up fashionably late, in the costumes. If everybody else is dressed up, you fit in. If not, you say “you said it was an ornament party”, laugh with the rest and then take off the stupid costumes.

Since this isn’t my holiday, I’m no expert. But friends of mine held an ornament exchange party last year instead of a gift exchange party, and said people enjoyed it. And one of my coworkers (who is very crafty) is planning an ornament making party this year.-I would guess either one of those would be a better alternative than showing up dressed as an ornament…
