I don’t know how it’s done in Crustwood, but here in Houston this is how shoplifters are handled. Employees are not allowed to accuse or touch anyone but they are aggressively and persistently helpful until the “subject” leaves the store. “I see you are on the bakery aisle, is there anything you need? How can I assist you here?”Many stores have a list of known thieves and they are on them like a duck on a June Bug whenever they enter the store. A trained employee sticks with them for the entire time they are in the store. Considering the Penny’s reputation and the size of Joy’s purse, I can imagine this happens to them a lot.
Well the Pennys are in for the sump pump. The one in the bathroom quit working. We call it a toilet. They are on sale today. Joy carries a big purse because they give out a bag of popcorn, while no one is watching she fills her purse.
I am with mikie2 on this. The Penny’s have “Stolen / Borrowed” a lot of stuff from Businesses over the years. If their came into my business I would hover for sure until they leave. If I am profiling them tooo bad.
I agree. It’s even money that they’re there to get a tool they need that they will return when the job’s done. Even the toilet seat they returned after three months. Apparently defective paint. Peeled off.
That’s not the only reason sales people hover… A lot of places like RadioShack only sell on commission (I used to work there) and the sales people hover so no other person gets the sale. It’s hard to average over $75 an hour sales required to keep your job when 75% of the people only come in to buy some batteries or something that only a couple of dollars. After a while you get a bit annoying but it’s either that or get no paycheck. May small store operate the same way.
