Why is everyone doing Happy New Year on December 31st?

Umm, I think what StuartJ12 is getting at is that it is only the New Year on some calendars.

I’m confused again! Did Henry turn into a zebra over New Year’s night?.Well, anyway… Happy New Year to all!

I’m really not sure exactly what happened last night, but when I woke upthere were a couple of dwarfs passed out and some underwear hangingfrom the lamp on the ceiling.(and a record skipping playing over and over "Y….MCA…Y…MCA)

Well, so far the Kingdom of ID is batting 1,000: they just blew another year! The empty bottles, champagne glasses, and last night’s chips littering the place (not to mention, the old lampshade stunt!) have, by the way, just set the tone for the “New” Year! Aah, feels about the same to me…

This makes much more sense being able to see it in color. We read it in the paper in black and white and the ball in the first panel looks like a dark star. WTF?
