One person’s pretty is another person’s where-did-you-get-THAT? My grandmother, who had otherwise impeccable taste, had a black Christmas purse which resembled Ben’s sweater, with the design all in sequins. And she bought it for herself.
I have a couple of nice sweaters. I think people might think they belong to the ugly sweater line. But I like them. And certainly don’t think they’re ugly. …. Though I recently saw a sweater with so much on it, with puffy baubles and rope sequins. And Tassels!!!!! All I could think was “those tassels would get into everything. You couldn’t cook while wearing that sweater.” Those tassels were on the cuffs. — it was a scary sweater.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And so is ugly.

I think they’re called ugly because no one could come up with a better description. (go ahead, try)

I think what we need to know is who gave it to him.
