I run into kids in schools that talk about being up until 2:30 the night beforeā€¦.Iā€™d be exhaustedā€¦.

Good training ā€“ a lot of adult ā€˜workā€™ is pointless too.

Itā€™s not the fall from a tall building thatā€™ll kill ya ā€“ itā€™s the sudden stop at the bottom.

The phrase ā€œWhen did you get in bed?ā€ is an artificial construction, revealing the forced nature of the joke. The normal construction would be: ā€œWhen did you get to bed?ā€

mwbarr: Then the correct response should be, ā€œItā€™s getting away from the bed that is the problem.ā€ That sounds like the bed is stalking and attacking. Iā€™d leave well enough alone.

Our elementary school has a rule that students cannot be given more than an hourā€™s worth of homework per night. Some students take a bit longer, others take a bit less, and of course there are a few students who donā€™t even attempt to either do homework or try to get the assignments done accurately. (Iā€™ll admit that some families and their habits arenā€™t conducive to encouraging their children to do their homework.)

Math homework used to make me cry, because I didnā€™t know how to do itā€¦And I knew I had to do it. My parents didnā€™t know how to do itā€¦It was 8th grade algebra for Christā€™s sakeā€¦who knows how to do that? Very few people reading this could even construct a logical algebraic formulaā€¦.

And 2 plus x doesnā€™t count, donā€™t try. Iā€™m talking about things that canā€™t be done with this keyboardā€¦10x squared ā€“ (+3), divided by 1/27 plus the the square root of 3 over the same formula minus 12ā€¦.
