I could not read a single word. By the time I got it big enough, it was too blurry. I understand the limits of magnification with old comics, but there needs to be some method for actually reading them.

I download them and then view them with Irfanview. Then I blow up each section I want to see better. It’s still blurry, but at least I can read it. Frankly, I’m not too impressed with these Wee Willie Winkie comics.

    1) Now just see how grumpy and discontented this old man is looking. Willie Winkie has seldom seen anything look quite so morose and out of sorts.

    2) Presently the little old professor comes along and walks up to the seat, which glowers at him expectantly, as though it were hungry and meant to eat him up. Willie Winkie is a little bit uncertain as to what is really going to happen.

    3) But here you see that our seat is only a good natured monster after all, and is well pleased to have such a nice little old man sit on him for company. And Willie Winkie is reassured and runs away contented.

    4) This shows you exactly how the passing of freight locomotive No. 31 the other evening at a forty-five mile gait, looked to Willie Winkie. No. 31 and Willie Winkie are good friends, and Willie declares 31 was just “showing off” for his special benefit, because it had no cars to pull. The steam from the cylinders turned into little white rabbits, which seemed to have a great time, galloping helterskelter alongside, and 31’s smokestack belched out a streaming cloud of black giants, with fiery, sparky eyes. The moon and all the houses stared in astonishment at the sight, for generally “31” is not a rapid traveler.
