Cartoon is broken. The elephant should be shown holding his chainsaw, and the donkey should be cut off at the knees, and his right arm missing from the shoulder.

It does describe the dysfunctional congress quite well though.

@Radish : All of this would be also true if the “sides” were interchanged. Let’s start being civil ourselves and maybe some of it will rub off on the politicians.

Like millions of other Americans, I want them to reach out and get some of those stalled House bills from out of Lefty Reed’s desk.

Hey the Republican gave up ground; that sounds like progress to me.

The problem is the Republicans won on 1 platform only, stopping Obama.

The problem is that both parties ignore science, are not interested in facts, are not interested in compromise, and are only interested in getting their own way 100% of the time.

And somehow, despite this, they’ve managed to brainwash almost the entire population into thinking that only the “other” party works that way.

People need to wake up and understand that the problem is not that our two major parties are so different – the problem is that they’re so much alike.

For the past six years, my greatest faulting of President Obama, from the ACA inclusions depriving us of “single payer”, to offshore oil regions being opened for leasing (but WITH stronger reliance on “science”, but not much) has been that Obama has surrendered too often, and too readily with Republicans in the House and Senate to get ANYTHING done. With the makeup of the new Congress, while the veto power resides with Obama, I don’t see a single issue on which Boehner and McConnell will cooperate across the aisle. None.

Two more years of total obstructionism from the right, but this time, with only two years left in his term, that veto pen will be needing lots of ink.

As a biologist I don’t like the term “African American”, as a combat veteran, with a son who’s a combat veteran, and as and American who wants the best for my country, ALL people and resources in my country, I’d like to see some political cooperation to show that those in Congress can BE “American”, and not merely corporate or political shills.

Deporting those in Congress out to ship more jobs and resources overseas that are needed here, is also a pretty good “immigration reform” to start with.
