All of our cats have insisted upon drinking from the tap, although they’ve never asked the way Boots does. (Clever!)We had one cat that would put her paw under the spigot after she’d finished drinking, and use the running water to wash up. No point in wasting spit, y’know.
We had a kitten that did that, but there was a toy in the dog’s water dish, one she dropped in there, that was the target of all those “baps” She would also be very indignant if any one rescued said toy.

Maybe he’s training like Oliver Queen on “Arrow”: hitting the water as hard as possible to work up the speed and strength for good archery.
