It’s at times like today - Sunday, right there in panel 4. that you’d expect to see Sam having opened a new Pack, ‘lighting one up’, and blowing the silky breeze alongside Silver’s and Mrs. F’s , , ,
The presentation might have appeared far more Congenial and in ‘even step’ had Sam been there, doing ‘his thing’, rather than a dead visual of the blackout back of Mrs, Flattops head !
I can visualize Joe ‘shaking his head’ at the lost opportunity here,(a ‘group function’ if you ask), and likely sorry that he “caved” in agreeing to cut Sam’s habit . . .
Earlier It probably had Bro’ Jim - “JUMPING UP” on Sprocket’s railway platform, every time Sam audaciously let go a Smoke Stream in Patton’s office ? “Gosh! Couldn’t happen in ‘real’ Chicago*!*”
.Well it’s not ‘real’ Chicago - It’s all in - a COMIC STRIP ! ;- )
Sprocket says, “She must be related to Flattop” based on the shape of her head. But, she was Flattop’s wife, not a blood relative. I guess the only way she would look like him is if she deliberately styled her hair in a “flat top” shape.
I like the “Skyvue Drive-In” sign. It was used as an opening panel last Sunday, too, shown from a very slightly different vantage point. There is so much detail contained in this small panel; it is a great scene-setter.
Stiletta makes good use of the beans spilled by Pouch. The Skyvue panel sets the scene. Stiletta and the Nitrates, together at last. We move from outside to indoors, as the excellent detail and perspective add depth to this complex tale. The film projector and popcorn machine enhance our sense of place. Especially noteworthy, to me, is the suggestion of Stiletta’s two sides in the final panel. The sinister profile within suggests her capacity for vile deeds. She has both the flat top of her late husband (a tribute hair style in remembrance?), and his propensity for violence. I like the way the many interesting elements of this story are coming together. More of the good stuff from Team Tracy.

It’s my understanding Stilletta Jones is black. So, if she was a cousin of Floyd ‘Flattop’ Jones, the Jones family must have been mixed race. Her daughter Angelica ‘Angeltop’ Jones married a black man, and that would make her son, Harold ‘Hi-Top’ Jones a mulatto too. The fact her two known children were outwardly ‘white’ would not disprove racial admixture. I’ve seen pictures of children born to mixed race couples, and you couldn’t tell one of the parents was black by looking at them. Also, to the best of my knowledge, black/white interracial marriages were illegal in Oklahoma when Flattop was alive, so for Floyd and Stilletta to be legally married, both of them would have to have been mixed race.
Mrs. Flattop tracks down Silver Nitrate for her son’s car. Silver Nitrate is working with Kandikane on a commercial. Kandikane is loving her time with Vitamin Flintheart. Vitamin was indirectly involved in the death of Flattop.
Flattop, as he would have appeared in William Dozier’s proposed 1960’s live-action TV series, portrayed by actor Leon Janney, special makeup by the legendary John Chambers …
People who marry into Flattop’s family must get their heads flattened as a gesture of dedication or something. Woo Gosh, what are you looking at me like that for? It makes every bit as much sense as a ring!

Good morning my friends.
@Pequod77: great poem!
@cpalmeresq: that is a good suggestion. Maybe they will feed her to the hyena but that would be too simple.
Have an awesome Sunday everyone.

Yes. It appears that you have a defected mirror and need to get it repaired.

Presumably at least one of the Silvers will survive this encounter; the only question is if they can manage to get paid money for the car.

If she married into the Flattop family, how is it her head is flat, too? Cousin marriage?

Blowtop is so aptly named, thus tends to come unglued
Tracy calm and focused, his questioning proves shrewd.
At the mention of Stiletta: Woo Gosh! He flips his lid
Lacking in composure, never keeps true feelings hid.
He heard she was in Europe, he lies to Tracy’s face
Lacking common decency, scruples, love or grace.
Elsewhere, at the Skyvue, a visitor approaches
Coveting the Wonder Car, the Nitrates she reproaches.
Stiletta tends to have her way at the edge of a sharp blade
Her knife-work truly infamous, her victims neatly flayed.
The Nitrates try to keep things cool, as they begin to sweat
Possession of the Wonder Car they may live to regret.
Stiletta sizes up the pair: small-timers in her eyes
Unaware of Lena or how her supper dies.
A hyena under lock and key could mean a smooth transaction
Uncaged to rage, to maul and feast, would mean bloody satisfaction.
