Short fingers you do not see
An optical illusion to you and me
It’s all a matter of perspective
When looking at what’s defective
No foreshortening in this strip
Someone needs to get a grip
Those fingers are short and small
It should be obvious to well, almost all
The key is in the shadow of all things
Just like those blessed guitar strings.
Anja ? Oh dear I hope her last name doesn’t turn out to be Mima.
and Of course she knows that you Dolt she has read the script for goodness sakes. Only his second panel appearance and already Johnny Nothing is an idiot .
The Blank used both an Airplane and a decompression chamber during his crimes both of which might be located in a science museum , he also used carbon monoxide to kill as well making him a somewhat scientific killer for his time.
There’s nothing wrong with Locher’s drawing skills. He draws what he sees. It’s just that Johnny Nothing has a bad habit. He bites his fingernails. He’s bitten away half his fingers – but that’s not Locher’s fault. Ain’t nobody’s fault but his own. His daddy done tole him, “Short fingers and no face ain’t no way to go through life, son,” but he didn’t listen.
P.S. It might look like Johnny still has fingernails even though half his fingers are gone, but that’s only because he draws fingernails on the ends of his stumps with a Sharpie, to avoid embarrassing questions.
”ANJA ?” … And all the time I was guessing it would be “Crackers” … I think this one has a plural streak!
W-W Like the crack of a whip. Sharp, whiplashes, comprehensively effective, and with even a tad of ‘musical’ history from the strip thrown in as a bonus
If the Art world offered Reuben Awards for verse I’d happily nominate you.
Locher hasn’t won a Reuben and won’t, when he retires. Not even if they had Trophies in the ”participation” category.
A bit of a pity he’s done some great villain design work in past years.
And it seems we’re getting more ‘evidence’ everyday that Brozman doesn’t have a future with Dick Tracy (e.g. in mid panel today he’s not even drawing straight lines for those shorter steps, - like rough penciling inked over carelessly)
Doesn’t that new villain look strangely like a villain Tracy faced way in the past? Like in the 30’s? A guy named Redrum who wore a plaster mask to hide his face?

Welcome to the generic-label “Science Museum!” The price of admission is much more affordable than at those pretentious, name-brand science museums.

How come they don’t have neon like Police Hdqtrs?

margueritem said, “How come they don’t have neon like Police Hdqtrs?”
The budget allowed for either a neon sign or entrance doors. Police Hdqtrs. chose to have the sign. The museum selected doors.

They look and are short and UGLY !!!
You are right though , I would not understand , I am not an artist . Do I have to play violin to appreciate it ?
” If this were drawn in color and using shadowing techniques, you would be able to understand that principle better. ”
But they are drawn in black and white and that principle does not hold a bit .
THESE ARE UGLY FINGERS !!!
But I am not an artist , so I guess I can’t understand . I love violin , do I have to play it to understand ?

Well, I am an artist, and this artist is not using any type of foreshortening technique that I have ever seen!!!

Hey! Look how short his fingers are. What’s up with that?
Well at least Locher should be consistent in drawing his face and should have enough time on his hands to give us a really great storyline this time!
