Three special women. Mary Ann was so charming and beautiful. Bess Myerson was the first and only Jewish Miss America and wound up with a great career.
However it was shameful how she was treated. Most of the Miss America speaking engagements were scheduled for churches and everyone one of Bess’s talks was cancelled. Phil might want to reflect on that fact.
Also the Miss America organization tried to get Bess to change her name to Beth Merrick, when it became apparent she might win.
