There needs to be an experiment in comics physics to verify the reaction of a lightsaber suit to a crane with a dropping or swinging 500 lb. force field wrecking ball.
I watched “Dune” before reading. It made me hesitate for years to read the first book.Anyway, Scott’s theory doesn’t fly, because the “Dune” movie came out after the entire original SW trilogy. Also, the hand rails during Luke’s first Vader fight weren’t even scratched by the sabers, so some solid materials must be exceptional.

Why does it seem that I’m the only one that thought Dune was an okay movie?

Alejandro Jodorowsky’s Dune was the best. Too bad it wasn’t made. So good it was recycled into several other great movies and comics.
