Why is Papa telling Annie everything?

He likes to brag.

‘Morning, VB! Leaky will not be joining us tonight. He’s in mourning at the coming loss of Annie.

So……..the Trib is gonna stop publishing Annie………most newspapers are stopping certain features ‘cause everyone is NOT subscribing. This only makes the web more powerful…….

Maybe we can assume that GO Comics will contine publishing Annie…..

I can’t believe they are stopping this strip. There are certainly a lot of worse strips out there – in fact MOST of them are worse.

This strip has interesting characters, nice artwork, and is very unpredictable (fr’instance, who would have thought that Papa would kill Junior! or that the inheritance arc would be so short.)

This is bad news indeed!!! At least you’d think that the Tribune syndicate would show enough respect as to let Maeder and Slampyak finish this arc. Of course, the Tribune (and I mean the Chicago Tribune) has slowly rotted away over the past decade.

Whoa, I don’t come on this forum for a couple of days and WHAM! I get hit blindside, wow who’s next Brenda Starr?

Maybe (I hope) they will start re-running some of the real old Annies like they did with L’il Abner. I think those old comics were really great!!

First “Law and Order”, now “Annie”.

I wish the owners of long-established franchises would at least have enough respect for their fans to allow the run to have a decent ending.

The mealy-mouthed announcement from the syndicate makes noises about finding other outlets, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

The best thing I might think of is to appeal to Go Comics (and other comic sites) to give Annie a home.

It always saddens me when we lose something most of us grew up with.

Maybe we didn’t read it EVERYday, but we knew it was there!!

I know it’s just a comic strip…….but thanks Annie for the entertainment you brought us. Gonna miss you.

I like the idea of reruns. Reprint some of the old Harold Gray stories. Start from the beginning. Or, hey, how about just reprinting the Leonard Starr stories?

Maeder and later Slampyak made it someting I started reading again after not doing so for many years.

It’s the BEST written continuity strip at TMS. Time for Locher to GO … and let Jay Maeder do the ‘writing’ on Dick Tracy, with a NEW artist.

He knows Tracy better than Annie. He wrote the “Official Biography” on the former

Brozman’s a ‘mistake’ he can’t ‘make’ !

Let’s hope for the best with this strip. Maybe…………………………..

I think our Annie will survive despite the Tribune’s cold.hearted stance. Apparently they didn’t say the strip was finished, period, just that it wouldn’t be in print anymore. Let us be patient, take a wait and see position. Optimists tend to be happier than pesimists, though pesimist get more pleasant surprises.

@Just Tink: Yes, and it’s suceesor this fall will be “Law & Order L A”. Anyway, I hope GoComics keeps this comic going after June 13, 2010.

I don’t think the strip actually ends for almost another month. That is time to close out this arc, though probably not enough time for closure on Punjab and The Asp. But you never know. I predict we’ll see Annie, Sandy, and Daddy, and maybe even Punjab, and the Asp, riding off into the sunset together (figuratively).

According to the newspaper articles………This particular story line will NOT wrap up.

Daddy will not be reunited with Annie at the end of this series next month. :-(((((

@Josh 1360: Actually “Lw & Order LA” is going to be replacing the original “Law & Order” which has been canceled by NBC after 20 years. As a result it won’t outlast “Gunsmoke” (which I, as someone who loved “Gunsmoke” and dislikes all of the “Law & Order” shows, thinks is just fine).

If he’s the Butcher, it means this will be going on for another month, not ending on June 13th.
