JSYK – James Patrick “Jimmy” Page, OBE (born 9 January 1944) is an English musician, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer who achieved international success as the guitarist and leader of the rock band Led Zeppelin.
I saw Jimmy Page at an outdoor music festival in Austin, Texas in 1974. The show opened with Bad Company, followed by Joe Cocker, followed by Santana and closed by ZZTop. Page played with Bad Company to promote their latest album (I forget which one) on Zepplin’s record label. My first and last outdoor concert. The music was great (four wonderful bands) but the heat and crowds were unbearable.
That Jimmy Page’s name should ever be known so well as Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky or even Aaron Copeland…and many others on both sides of “classical.”
Two decades or so ago, a guy told the Readers Digest that he entered his son’s room one day to find posters of Led Zep, Hendrix, and the Beatles on the walls. “What happened to Twisted Sister, Ratt, and Motley Crue?” “Oh, my tastes have changed,” the son explained, “I listen to classical music now.”

I love classical music, too. Yes, some of those guys really rocked. If Beethoven had lived in these days, he would have been Jimmy Page!

Beethoven would be Stevie Wonder.
