Dad: Gracie, way back when I was small... Dad: I studied in the library. Gracie: That is so crazy incredible! Gracie: I mean, that's actually something kids still do! Dad: Call me old-fashioned.
But is it safe to walk/bike there without a parent present? Case in point – the woman who was questioned when someone found her two under-ten-year-old children were playing at a local park GASP!!!!!! unaccompanied by an adult, one block from her house (read this on a newsfeed, still trying to find the source as I type this).
My local library was 12 miles away and required crossing 3 busy streets if we rode bikes: to us kids, going to the library was a weekly treat since mom loved to read and needed a new book after two days.

Guess I was lucky. My library was 6 or 7 blocks away. It was my second most favorite place to go. The first was the second hand book store.
