Look at the picture of the dress on a laptop. Then tilt the screen forward and back. It goes from white and gold to blue and black as the screen is tilted.
Wow, you guys continue to be very timely (even if this is “So last Friday” or whenever it was). I see that Sal thinks he is being quite clever (although I’m sure he heard that somewhere else and is taking credit for the joke as his own)! My first impression on seeing the strip (before realizing it was “The Dress”) was “Hey, Rita looks good in that new dress!”.
OK, serious question for TSR about the color: Is the blue of the light stripes on Rita’s dress the same color as the background (the floor)? I think it is but can’t be sure.
Hmmm…I wonder why Rita’s white jacket doesn’t look blue? Anyway, I always saw white and gold, even though the photos looked sort of a lavender or periwinkle blue and brown or olive. I think I “saw” white because my brain saw it as being white in a shadow – thus underexposed. Anyway, I’ll grant the blue part, but I sure as heck never saw black! At best maybe a dark olive or tarnished brass.Actually Rita’s dress colors look spot on to what I always saw in “The Dress” photo (regardless of shadows or whatever)! Great strip today!

I thought he was encased in carbonite. The _real- joke is that the internet controversy increased the cost of the dress by 300% and Rita bought it!

The dress “event” is a great demonstration of the retinex theory of color vision, invented by Edwin Land, of Polaroid fame.
