Grimm’s tales are folk tales, not nursery rhymes, and, yes, they are pretty grim (they’ve been cleaned up a bit over the years) - more appropriate for Tim Burton or even Tobe Hooper than Walt Disney.
Personally, I’d choose The Gashlycrumb Tinies, The Wuggly Ump or The Hapless Child to read to children.

Well, Vigilante de noche, I know that Georgie Porgie was about King George.
Like fairy tales, the so-called “nursery rhymes” were originally written for adults. Their modern equivalent is the political cartoon.
