We've got some shopping to do. We have to get that part for the washing machine. And the one for the weed whacker. And I need a new suit and maybe shoes. Oh! We should look for decent silverware and maybe a duvet. I don't think another trip to Wallmarks is going to do it. I guess it's time we finally go back to the big department store. How long have we been putting off the strip? Last time we went, it was to register for Toby's baby shower.

Yeah right – last few times I needed parts I should have stayed home and just ordered them over the internet,.Larry may be in for a surprise when he starts asking for service and parts at a department store.

Walmart is over an hour away and Target (wife’s favorite) is four hours. Just made the trip to Target last week….first time in about eight months….my wife’s a happy girl!

Is Wallmarks supposed to be Walmart or Walgreens? And if it’s Walmart, isn’t that already the “big department store”? But really, what place sells washing machine and weed whacker parts along with suits and shoes, silverware and duvet cover? Even back-in-the-day Sears couldn’t get that shopping trip done.

I loved it when we lived in Atlanta and could order from the Sears catalog and then just drive down to the store (which was also a distribution center) and pick it up. You could even order while you were in the store, shop awhile, then return to Catalog Pickup and get it.

Used to have a Eaton’s, Simpson-Sears (boy is that dating me!) and The Hudson’s Bay, Army & Navy. Simpson-Sears was the first to go. Then Eaton’s died. Very sad. Sears came back and took over the Eaton’s downtown store. Sometime later, new construction on the corner across from Sears brought us Future Shop and Winners. Then Sears left us for the suburbs. Leaving a big empty building.
<br?In the meantime, Zellers was sold to Target. They are in the suburbs. Wal-Mart popped up. In the suburbs. Well, we all know what happened to Target. It died. It did not do its research. So it deserved to die.
I now wait with baited breath (baited with what I don’t know) for Nordstrom’s. Yeah! Competition for The Bay.
