In the movie “Corrina, Corrina”, the daughter was asked by her father how to spell “vacuum.” H-O-O-V-E-R.

I’m surprised at how well this wordplay translated into the Spanish version of Foxtrot.

Rolaids has been off the market for several years now.

Have they? Well, her father remembers them hehe Also that is why she did not get the joke

Granted, this strip is several years old, but I remember that commercial and chuckled.

A lot of kids have trouble spelling Mississippi, but nobody in my family ever has. We were all taught to spell it my grandmother’s way. M-I-crooked letter-crooked letter-I-crooked letter-crooked letter-I-humpback-humpback-I

Back in the 1970s, my sister was a student teacher. She was teaching and mentioned the word “Beneficial”. The entire class of middle schoolers, in unison, went “Toot Toot!”

And for those of you who remember, America spells cheese K-r-a-f-t

FOR THE YOUNGINS: Many decades ago, there was a commercial in which people on the street were asked to spell relief. None of them could do it except for the last person who would spell R-O-L-A-I-D-S.

I before E, except after C, or is sounded like A as in neighbor or weigh. or weird/

Hey, I owe it to Oscar Mayer that I can spell Bologna.

I prefer “Tums”….“for the tummy”

I know Rolaids is still available because I use it when needed. I don’t recall a time when it was not available.
