    So, does that mean that at the end (or is it the beginning?) of each ride, the cabbie owes the fare…the fare? (or is it the eraf?)

    Some other comment posters mention “transmission failures”; one Chrysler (I don’t remember if it was a Plymouth Valiant or a Dodge Dart) I drove developed a problem in which it would spontaneously shift into NEUTRAL when I tried to make left turns; the whole steering column had to be taken apart to fix the problem.

    Of course I believe the one about birds and ants. Birds and anting was described when I was in middle school. Another “Believe It Or Not” item about something that is widely known.
