Transcript:
Nate: What do you think of the paintings, Gramps? Vern: I like the old ones. the older, the better. Vern: If a painting's like, a hundred year' s old or more, i like it. But the modern ones, i don't get. Vern: I generally have no interest in stuff that's younger than i am. Grandma: And yet, he finds a way to enjoy the sports illustrated swimsuit issue. Vern: I happen to like the exotic locations.

You could photoshop the last few âstrips with Nateâs image instead of Grampsâ and show it to someone.
Theyâd never notice the differenceâŠ

I suspect that modern art is a hoax. Splash some paint on a canvas and let a bunch of art snobs stand around and talk about how they can understand it and the lesser people canât, and then ask big bucks for it, which the art snobs will pay so that they can feel superior to the lesser people. Well, I apparently am one of those lesser people, because I kinda think that if I could have done it myself, it ainât art.

DLee4144: You sound like those English-only types who think any language they donât understand is gibberish. Someone told Picasso that his kid could do better. Picasso replied, âIt takes a long time to become young.â Most contemporary art is inferior to old masters â just as most of that periodâs was. Check That is Priceless to see some of the âOld Journeymenâ works that now serve mainly as a straight line to the captionâs punchline. Wait until time can do its winnowing work.
