I’m missing something here. What connects “whoopee”, “cushion”, “1950’s”, and/or “mattress”? And what does any of it have to do with bloopers, real or staged? I don’t think any comments so far show that anyone gets the joke.
Schaefer didn’t let reality stop him. He recreated most of the most famous bloopers, bringing unconfirmed urban legends to apparent life that fooled listeners.
The host “Uncle Don” never actually said “That ought to hold the little bastards,” but his reputation was thoroughly blackened by funny old Kermit and his studio fake.
