Meg’s eggs, hmmm, Ben’s Hens, Heather’s Feathers, Wooster’s Roosters, Mick’s Chicks, Jeep’s Peeps, Chuck’s Clucks, Polk’s Yolks, Powell’s Fowls OK that last one was probably reaching a little bit. I guess they can get up and running for chicken feed.

Gene is smart and a good father to Meg. Arlo and Janis should be proud.

Farming is one of those occupations where it’s really hard to get in on the ground floor. You have to operate at such an impossible scale to compete and be profitable, the amount of capital needed to get started is absurd. I’ve read that the average middle-class farm is 416 acres today, where in 1870, it was 167 acres. And that 1870 farm had to allow more land to remain in fallow rotation without modern fertilizers.

Hopefully, there’s a Family Farm and Home store, or one like it, near them; Family Farm and Home sells empty egg cartons that will hold 12 eggs. Of course, they sell much bigger items for farmers, such as yard tractors.

@comicsssfan“Starting at such a young age, she may soon burn out on business and working.”.Or it may be as natural as breathing for the rest of her life. After she is a success from unceasing hard work, someone will complain about her wealth or that she doesn’t do the things THEY enjoy even though she has all along been doing the things she enjoys..Such is life.

When I was Meg’s age (maybe a bit older), I began my farming career by raising radishes, because Mom said they grew the fastest of any produce. Had plenty of well-aged chicken detritus for them, so they probably were pretty magnificent. Wound up with 8 – 10 nice bunches, took them to the neighborhood grocer about 1/2 mile away to sell, but he wouldn’t accept them. I made $0.00 and didn’t like radishes anyway. End of farming career.

“Meg’s Eggs”, huh? That’d be a fun logo to design.
