If my doctor came at me, as in P7, with that crazed look on his face, needle raised above his head, someone screaming in the background, I might react the same as Poncho.
I had a similar experience with one of my dogs when I gave him his first bath as a puppy. I learned that no matter how small the dog, you’ve got to keep their weight on all 4 of their paws. Of course, successful experiences are not the stuff of good cartoons.
Oh, have I ever “been there, done this” so many times over the years! When I took Mister P to the vet the first time after I rescued him and his brother, the vet tried to trim his nails. It took FIVE of us to hold down a 20-pound dog, and then he peed all over all of us! He learned over the course of the next several months, after hours of playing with his paws, that nail trims weren’t going to hurt. He turned out to be a really good little dog!
Samson is a black Lab. He would be 13 years old in July if he lived that long, but I don’t see it. Cancer will kill him if the hernia doesn’t.
This morning I let him out in the front yard. It took him 5 minutes to stand up on 3 legs, wheezing and sneezing, and another 5 to get down one stair. He started licking rain water while I went back in the house. 5 minutes later, the neighbor said through the front screen that Samson was at the other end of the block.
Samson is a pirate. He can barely walk, but he never took down the Jolly Roger.

Somehow, I think Poncho’s meditating too, but with the vet on his mind.

It amazes me that Chaz can find a vet willing to treat Poncho. Maybe he has to switch vets after each appointment…

Isn’t this what happened to Herbert Lom in the “Pink Panther” movies?

The only time my dog ever bit anyone, was when he was a puppy and the vet tried to take his temperature.
