enjoy this vintage 1999 classic tom the dancing bug every thursday panels from the annals of the tom the dancing bug archive check back every friday for a fresh, brand new tom the dancing bug! tom the dancing bug by ruben "flash" bolling heroes of sports hall of famer pud reilly hit .627 in 1908 but lost batting championship to billy "no-legs" hale's .674! 627 known as an incurable grouch, pud once beat up a negro in the stands after taking the collar in a 3-0 loss to the yanks! hit for the cycle in 1926 despite suffering from symptoms of tertiary syphilis! spent off-seasons working for the eastern manufacturing co. as a thug! on strike always fat and stupid, pud often pulled the "hat trick" by also playing drunk! it was not until after he won "rookie of year" in 1904 tthat it was pointed out to pud that he was holding the wrong end of the bat! fed up with attention paid to young babe ruth, in 1921, pud declared he would try to hit home runs for ten at-bats. he hit homers in all ten at tries, then returned to hitting singles, his point made! spent the 1911 season as a pitcher, tossing 837 innings, including all 90 innings of a july 4 ten-header! would sharpen his spikes before each game, then hurl his shoes at opposing pitchers!
