Duke: Any messages for me while I was gone, Honey? Honey: Yes, sir! We got our first job! Duke: We did? Honey: Yes, sir. A gentleman by the name of Diaz wants you to go out to some freighter tonight and pick up a small parcel he's expecting! Duke: Hot damn! This is it, Honey! We are going to clean up! Honey: He figures it won't take more than a half hour, so I quoted him a price of $35. Duke: You what? Honey: As an introductory rate. He seemed very pleased!

I love it. Completely innocent and clueless Honey, whose borrowed money is backstopping this whole venture, subverts Duke’s plans at the outset. $35 for a 1/2 hour of work seems a very reasonable rate.

They could burn that much in fuel.

She is a very good communist but lacks a lot in being a capitalist.

They’ll probably eat most of that up in fuel. And that’s accounting for the lower fuel costs back then.

A boat that large doesn’t leave the dock without burning $50 of maintenance and fuel, even then $35 wouldn’t cover a half hour outing.

Give Honey a break, despite being based on an economic theory, Communists were poor at economics.(Partly because the economic theory was so flawed.)

The issue is that she thinks they’re actually doing fishing trips. Her lack of knowledge of fuel prices does surprise me a bit, though. You’d think she’d been in America long enough.
