How is work? Weird. Ten people told me all about their surgeries, which were, of course, worse and harder than mine. After everyone agreed that I had it easy, no one could believe that I hadn't had the prescription for pain medication filled. One guy who really really couldn't believe it got really really weird about it, and security came to help him take his things from the building.

As a chronic arthritis sufferer, I can assure you that you’re better off never taking anything stronger than Aspirin or Tylenol.

Everybody and their brother at work was asking me if I had any “extra” pain pills when I went back to work after my knee surgery. And this was a “professional” university environment.

The worst pain I’ve ever had was when I had to have 4 teeth out and the needles of anaesthetic hurt like hell! Never again.xxx

I rarely need pain pills after a tooth extraction, and OTC are good enough even then. The worst part of the procedure is the needle with the anesthetic. I usually need an extra when they start to work.

I’ve been very lucky in my life. Two fantastic dentists and one not so fantastic dentist. I now fear the day when my current genius dentist retires. I’m accustomed to having no particular pain issues any more (not since the not-so-fantastic dentist)
