There were images. They had better effects and acting than TV has been able to come up with yet.Old time radio is still the best way to visit Yesterdayland.
Hi, DaBoogadie; I always got a chuckle out of your screen name. Then I downloaded a solitaire app, and apparently they assigned that to me as my screen name!
Back in the 1930s the Amos & Andy program was so popular that it was eating into movie attendance. Some movie houses would actually stop the movie and play Amos & Andy when it came on so their patrons wouldn’t miss it.
Actually radio is doing the best right now of the traditional media. People do listen to pandora, or Sirrius, but most people still do listen to the radio, particularly in cars. By contrast papers are dying fast, and TV is struggling against Netflix, and the internet.

Our Miss Brooks was great on the radio. But Eve Arden was a hoot to watch on TV. (a little before my time)

One good thing about radio is that you can work, study or drive while enjoying it. Now go and try to do all that with TV…

I love listening to old time radio. The Lone Ranger, Jack Benny, X Minus One, Johnny Dollar. You can’t find entertainment like that anymore.
