Lucy: Maybe you can call it the cube of quietude. Danae (from in box): The sphere of serenity is inside the box, Lucy... Lucy: Oh. Danae:...And the whole point of it is to block out people, so clam up! Lucy: Ok......But I'm actually a horse, so... Danae (from in box): GAH!

I sympathize with Danae. This is the first time I can remember when she was willingly being quiet, and not plotting or writing anything.

Lucy had some ‘splaining to do, she couldn’t be quiet.

What has happened for the necessity of ‘quiet’!? Now wonder if Lucy is worried about Danae seeking serenity. The serious questions remain. Intrigue and mystery.

from www.phrases.org.uk:
Origin
In horse racing circles tips on which horse is a likely winner circulate amongst punters. The most trusted authorities are considered to be those in closest touch with the recent form of the horse, that is, stable lads, trainers etc. The notional ‘from the horse’s mouth’ is supposed to indicate one step better than even that inner circle, that is, the horse itself.
It is a 20th century phrase. The earliest printed version I can find of it is from the USA and clearly indicates the horseracing context – in the Syracuse Herald, May 1913:
“I got a tip yesterday, and if it wasn’t straight from the horse’s mouth it was jolly well the next thing to it.”

Octagon of Quietude! would be more correct if we need to follow the same letter sequence.also the Square of Silence works better. A few more:Parallelogram of Placidity!Curvilinear Triangle of Composure!Cresent of Cool!Nonagon of Nirvana!

phylum: This and gift horse both relate to checking their teeth to determine their age, health, etc., as that is the most reliable means.

the correct word is ‘straight’….the other strait means narrow or restricted.

So the Sphere of Serenity is inside the Cube of Shut Up, which is inside the Bedroom of Incommunicado, which also appears to be the Stable of Curiosity.

I try to grit my teeth and not correct people’s grammar or usage unless they have been attacking someone else in a manner that is, to my way of thinking, uncalled for. Then they’re fair game!

So you get to correct their “bad form” and I get to criticize your criticism of them and you get to criticize me for not minding my own business etc., etc., etc.It would be most petty to be offended by such a minor correction. Soon the “straights” would be at war with the “straits”. Wiley’s “we” versus “they” played out in the comment section of his comic. Tooooo ironic.

“A horse is a horse, of course, of course, and no one can talk to a horse of course. That is unless of course the horse is the famous Mister Ed!” There’s more, but I’d like to avoid a copyright infringement law suit.

What I find hard to understand is why, when Danae for the first time is just trying to achieve a small measure of calmness and isn’t plotting any mischief, she is still subject to constant criticism from her ‘significant others’ as if she’s trying to cause trouble.
SPOILER
Her ‘father’ has apparently decided that her desire for temporary peace is just a ploy to get out of chores. Meanwhile, her perfect sister, who retreats into books all the time to avoid others, is immune to chores.
I begin to understand why Danae is the way she is…

Night-Gaunt49 The cube is also a platonic solid, figures that have sides of flat regular polygons. There are only five: tetrahedron, four triangles; hexahedron or cube, six squares; octahedron, eight triangles; dodecahedron, twelve pentagons; and icosohedreon, twenty triangles. Or in game notation: d4, d6, d8, d12, and d20.
