I don’t visit the site often (read the strip in the paper unless it gets too twee), but am severely technology-deficient and don’t know what’s going on here. What is Bucky doing when his Polaroid goes “k-zz(z)t”? And why does he have to throw something against the wall (or whatever he was doing in the first panel) to get the Polaroid (?) down? How did it get on the wall in the first place? See, told you I was technically deficient!
That sound is the camera motor extruding the exposed photo through the rollers that squeeze the embedded emulsion to develop the picture. I used to be “addicted” to photography. Film and processing were expensive, but once you were hooked, many moved on to the “hard stuff” – Polaroid – a dollar-a-shot but an instant high.

I didn’t even recognize it.

Well, Bucky was polite enough to ask, but I suspect there’s a nefarious plot afoot.

Polaroid’s latest instant cameras are essentially digital cameras with built-in miniature photo printers. The same effect, but no need for film.

Bucky’s probably going to claim he’s an artistic photographer.
