Nope, just one udder allowed per cow. Each udder is “divided” into four quarters, with one teat per quarter. Extra teats (more than four) are removed while they are still calves. Although rare, that does happen more than you might think and sometimes are left alone.
Perhaps Hector had in mind an old Stan Freberg song, “Pass The Uder Udder, about a giant cow “…named Gladys…who stood 10 foot tall and had one purple eyeball….”
Joe-Allen my mom used to talk about days like that. She has been away from farming for 70 years but to her it’s like yesterday. She would say they had an old cow named bossy who bossed other cows. She refered to me.
