The issue here is menstruation, and Danae will most likely have the skill to go nuclear on any guy who ventures too close. (Note the irony also of both terms with men in the name.)

It is amazing how quickly politics and race emerge in the comments of good natured comics. I am not saying it is a bad thing. It just shows what is foremost on people’s minds.

Welll, it’s a counterpart to “G.R.O.S.S.” from Calvin and Hobbes, which Wiley must have had in mind.

Her attitude suggests MOSS (Malevolent Order, etc.) would have been more accurate, but without her ironic misuse of “benevolent” the strip would have been too sequiturish.

Danae’s B.O.S.S. vs Calvin’s G.R.O.S.S. would be epic, like Batman vs Superman or Godzilla vs Mothra.

I’d rather see Danae go up against SPECTRE, THRUSH or even KAOS.
