Makes sense when you listen to the rabid “Christians” who think their “god” punishes “sins” with earthquakes and hurricanes.

Is this the origin of God Man?

This is the same god that will punish your great-great grandchildren for your transgressions? (Exodus 34:7)
Going by the Biblical description of Yahweh, he is: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.
It’s really easy to have a nice god, so long as you ignore large chunks of your holy book.
Furthermore, remember that that Psalm isn’t an independent description of Yahweh but rather the praises being offered up by someone who believes that he will be rewarded if Yahweh is happy with him and punished if Yahweh is displeased. I would give it no more credit that an abused wife saying how much her husband loves her, (while he is standing in the room).

Wow. This cartoon, and just an hour ago I read James Morrow’s story Bible Stories for Adults No. 17: The Deluge (won the Nebula Award in 1989). God’s really getting it in the shorts from those who have seen through the scam.

I love Morrow’s work. Thanks for mentioning it.
