When my nieces and nephew were young, they were thrilled to see them when they came up north to visit us in the summer because they don’t have them in Florida where they lived.
I saw one in my neighborhood, and probably won’t see more; they’ve started running anti-mosquito foggers at night here – they’re only marginally effective on the mosquitos, but pretty darned lethal to the fireflies.

I was taking a trip and believe it or not I was driving thru NJ and saw tons of them along the highway. it was magical.

my nephew loved fireflies. he took forever to outgrow the obsession. actually, i’m not sure he has. and why not?

We have two types here in Georgia. One type that flashes lime-green and another type that flashes amber yellow.

I grew up with them in Pittsburgh, and kind of pity the kids here in Florida who have never seen them…
