I’m aware of the ‘modern’ meaning, but I can’t imagine actually having occasion to use that phrase with that meaning, so I have to work at being amused, much less offended, by it’s use in places like this. I still think it’s a wonderful phrase to describe the the tea peers.

Sisyphos, I’ve never tried a corn dog. Just the thought of them makes me feel queasy, kind of like a fried Twinkie.
