TV: King Kong has fallen from the Empire State Building! But look! He isn't hurt! Because, kids, he's wearing protective headgear.
Garfield: Must they ruin everything?!
It hasn’t been reissued since the days of VHS (and should stay that way) but the animated knock-off “The Mighty Kong” (starring Dudley Moore as the voice of Carl Denham!!) ends exactly this way, minus the headgear. Yep, he gets knocked off the Empire State Building, falls to the pavement below…and recovers.
There’s also that hilarious sequel to the 1976 remake, “King Kong Lives,” in which Linda Hamilton (!) plants an artificial heart in poor Kong so he can go on another rampage, because it was apparently a BUM TICKER that almost killed the Beast, not the three thousand rounds of bullets and the 110-story plunge to concrete.

I agree with Garfield in the final panel there.

So it was neither the plane nor beauty nor anything else that killed the beast. (Yawn)

Great, now kids will be jumping of the Empire State Building with a helmet, elbow pads and kneepads on. Nice going ProtectiveWareHouse!
