Agnes, maybe you need to read Jeffrey Archer’s “The Prodigal Daughter”.
In that novel, protagonist Florentyna Kane (nee Roznovski) is given a teddy-bear as a child which is named FDR (and coincidentally her first word is “presidunk”) and is damaged by a classmate (with whom she develops deep frienship later, marrying him at novel’s end when she is 62-years-old). When she meets this same friend sometime between 1968 and 1982 (Florentyna’s birth-date is 1934/01/01), she tells him she still has the one-armed FDR in her posession.
What a cute thing to say Agnes! It is perfectly fine for you to have a doll as long as you want her and she wants you. I encourage my 10 year old daughter to stay young as long as possible, I’ve already lost my 14 year old to fashion, music and anime.
My wife bought herself a small, stuffed, white rabbit some years back. She thought it was cute and said she might give it to our adult daughter. I could tell she really wanted it so I told her it was OK if she kept it for herself. She still has that bunny, takes it with her when we go on trips and hugs it to her every night when she goes to sleep. My wife is 66 years old.
Girls have dolls, boys have action figures. It’s what the doll (action figure) does that defines what it is. If a boy has a GI Joe he is not going to make it dress up for a tea party. Although there are great female soldiers out there, if a girl has a Barbie, she likely will not send it into the field of battle.

A girl…. or a boy…. of any age can have a doll.And a doll of any age can have a girl… or a boy.. or a grown-up.
And it’s not dumb.
In fact, Agnes, it may be just what you need.

I got my Teddy Bear when I was two. He was still with me some sixty years later until his untimely demise.
