If lawyers did anything but glance at and sign the work their “paralegals” and “legal secretaries” do – there would be no Golf Courses.

Our experience with the lamaze class was this: all that crap is to keep dad occupied while mom screams with pain. (Chances are, she’ll beg for a shot to deaden her from the waist down.) I admire my wif’e’s bravery to deliver our two kids “naturally.” I felt useless…

I delivered all three naturally and I couldn’t have done it without my husband’s support.

In childbirth, there’s no going back, is there? There’s lots of tense, nervous anticipation involved – no wonder they’re crabby.

This is a form of birth control, the knowledge that you will be condemned no matter what you do..For the weak of heart, it is a good reason to not father children or bear them..Thus, each generation is born to parents disinterested in the opinions of the judgmental..It used to bother Patsy that one would condemn her for dressing our baby too warmly and the very next would think he needed more clothes..I — the hardhearted — thanked them both for sharing their concerns, followed by, “Your baby, your decision. Our baby, our decision.”

Rick never really wanted to be a dad and Jeff’s subsequent life is a result of that fact. If this were only a cartoon then it would be funny, but it’s a fact of life and the fact that so many people have children for questionable reasons (parental pressure, boredom, alcoholic intoxication, to hold a failing marriage together, etc). These children grow up without love and having their real needs met and often with brutality and resentment and the whole world suffers.

Long before we knew about Bill Cosby’s criminality, I turned off his show and him because he used to tell his TV children, “I brought you into the world and I can take you out of this world.” No Bill, no parent has that power and threatening to kill your children is not a joke, not even a little bit funny. I heard no outcry over this, have never heard anyone mention it, but for me who grew up with a father who thought that I was brought into the world to be his personal punching bag and those like me, there’s nothing funny about that. That’s really obnoxious leftwingpatriot, way more than these people shown here. (keeping it in perspective).

my answer to that would be “well isn’t that f***ing nice for you?”

people have to do things their own way. if they feel forced, someone else’s “right” thing is a lot less likely to happen.

We managed to switch to Bradley Method after interviewing the OB and reading Dr. Bradley’s book, found a great OB in Culver City. She snored between contractions, and I gave her time hacks about every 15-30 seconds to keep her out of Time Warp mode.My first daughter, I wasn’t allowed near (1st) wife; second, allowed to hold her hand. New wife, third daughter (“change-of-wife-baby”, thanks Ron Burns!) I got to be fully involved, though reading fell behind the real-time deadline…
