I don’t care what the “scientists” say. Pluto will always be a planet in my heart.

No, those are the actual names of the moons of Pluto. BTW here is a link to the NASA page for the New Horizons Pluto encounter coming this week: http://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/newhorizons/main/index.html

    Okay, poll:

How many of you realized that the name of Pluto came from a little girl who was related to an astronomer? Although he was not the discoverer, the first two letters of Pluto reminded the committee of a famour institute director. Who can name that gent? The institute? Big virtual points will invisibly buzz near your head if you can name the little girl. Free points: what character had his name become something different than was originally planned due to Pluto appearing in school lessons?

Agreed. If we say “small planet”, it’s still a planet. If we say, “ringed planet”, it’s still a planet. If we say, “blueberry yogurt planet”, it’s still a planet. So, I say let them call it a “dwarf planet”, it’s still a planet! We’ll know the truth, no matter what they tell us

And no mention here of Dr. Mel killing New Horizons for several hours back around July 6th. Bad, bad Dr. Mel.
