Freedom of speech may also infer freedom of getting a punch in the mouth, if you exercise your freedom a little too vigorously. This is generally known as getting back what you dish out.
The idea of falsely shouting “fire” in a crowded theater arose from the Supreme Court’s 1919 decision in the case Schenck v. United States. The Court ruled unanimously that the First Amendment, though it protects freedom of expression, does not protect dangerous speech. In the decision, Oliver Wendell Holmes wrote that no free speech safeguard would cover someone “falsely shouting fire in a theater and causing a panic.”
They’re off and running at Jamaica again! I think I’ll just stick to Bucky’s comments. Has anyone noticed that Bucky is the Archie Bunker of modern comics—maybe just a little sharper of mind in all his misanthropy. I never got the feeling Archie wished actual harm to anyone.
Dear Liverlips, your comment is silly. The republicans voted against all of the democrat initiatives because repubs believe in individual freedom, not statism. Obama is one of the four worst US presidents ever, not because he “leads from behind” and not because he only votes “present”, but because of his positive initiatives – ObamaCare, the $trillion bailout of his campaign contributors, Dodd-Frank. No wonder the economy/world performed so poorly, as it always will with kleptocrats in charge.
Here in 2020, the Democrats have spent 4 long years doing nothing useful for a single citizen of the USA, just being hateful, libelous and slandering, not a single useful thing whatsoever. Even abused ‘emergency powers’ at the state governor level to crush their citizens’ economic abilities and prosperity to quash Trump’s roaring economy from getting him re-elected. And leftist statists say ‘conservatives are heartless monsters’, as if they even know any conservatives.

Seems to me freedom of speech has been replaced by political correctness. Look … but don’t say anything that might offend.

Can’t wait for Trump to draft Bucky as his running mate — provided Bucky will put up with him.
