Janis: Look! I've read about these! Adult coloring books!
Arlo: Adult coloring books?
Janis: Yes! It seems they're becoming quite popular!
Arlo: This is just patterns and geometric shapes!
Janis: What did you expect?
John they are, just check Amazon for erotic coloring books. I mean if there is dinosaurotica, there have to be coloring books… Oh and dont tell Janis. She’ll just roll her eyes.
Funny, a friend was just telling me that she’s into these new coloring books of geometric shapes, etc. The opposite page is “suggested” colors to use in the finished artwork, but the artist can go rogue and do her own thing if she wants to. Friend finds it to help calm her nerves after a stressful day at work. Better than drugs, I’d say. And cheaper than redecorating the house.
I read an article somewhere yesterday about adult coloring books that said they were very relaxing. People even have parties to get together and color and gossip, etc. People with PTSD and other ills find that they offer relief. I think that’s great, but I was going, “Wha-a-a?”For a sample peek at them, google “adult coloring books,” (or “colouring,” for our British readers).
…then you might be interested in this – a friend’s 18 year old daughter brought along her ’connect the dots" book to a (probably to her) boring beach party, to keep herself occupied. Each one was a scene from cities of the world (Paris, Athens, etc), and there are over 1000 dots per picture – she was using a ruler to keep her lines perfect…she worked on the Acropolis all afternoon…
Two Sundays ago, the adult coloring books made the cover of Parade magazine, so there was an article about them, and seven varieties of them were shown in the article.
@Tarredandfeathered@comicsssfan“Whose Flesh Tone?”.That’s the beauty of coloring books, YOU, the"artist", get to decide.Wouldn’t it be fun if you could change your own skin color in a second on a whim?

The “geometric shapes” I’ve seen aren’t child’s play: search “Mandala coloring pages.”

There’s also an app for your smart phone/ipad – “colorfy” or “My Coloring Book”. Great time killer.

I remember them in the early 80s. It looks like they made a comeback.
