I think this reminds me of seeing a political cartoon showing Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft wearing the same trousers and trying to get to their respective places and pulling the other guy one away.

Although, it works best if he’s not still wearing it.
I think it should be “share the shirt right on his back.”
