Been my experience that dogs won’t turn down cat food and it has to be put out of their reach. Course it’s also been my experience that a certain female will eat the dogs’ food if their dishes are on her counter while their being filled.
Most dogs love cat food, but supposedly it’s too high in protein and fat and will just make them obese, along with all the problems that entails, if you give it to them regularly. Cats will just shrivel up and die if you feed them dog food. Weird how that works when they’re both bred from natural apex carnivores.
Supper time, and the livin’ is easy.Charlie’s comin’, and the dish is piled high (trombone: wah-wah-wah-wah)Your stomach’s empty, but your dinner is readySo hush little Snoopy, don’t you cry.
If I remember correctly, there is a similar Peanuts comic where Charlie Brown says pretty much the same thing to Snoopy after Snoopy has already eaten the food. Snoopy says something about “You can’t feed cat food to a DOG” and proceeds to imagine that he’s getting sick, DEATHLY sick….only to have Charlie Brown reappear and tell him that he (Charlie Brown) was “just kidding”. Maybe that comic appears tomorrow?
This is the first of a 4 week 1968 Sunday arc where Snoopy gets cat food instead of dog food then in the second week (running next Sunday) Snoopy throws the cat food to the cat next door even in Snoopy’s supper dish!
In the wild cats eat the fresh flesh of their kill, wild dogs eat all of their kill, hooves, pelts, and the crack the bones for marrow and chew up the bones for the calcium. Cats need richer food to power their muscles, while dogs digest slower.

Out of all the good things in Snoopy’s life, I guess his owner must not be one of them…

Dogs will only eat cat food if they think that they are stealing it from a cat.

We should all be grateful for what he have. In my case, I’m grateful having my eyes to see this fantastic strip!

Cat food contains copper sulphate, which is bad for anyone other than cats (it used to be a herbicide).

My dog loves cat food… even after it’s been through the cat. I know, YUCK!
